Bringing Stories to Life with AI: Ngee Ann Secondary Students Complete the AI Storybuilder Program
We wrapped up a 5-session workshop about the world of storytelling and artificial intelligence with the students of Ngee Ann Secondary School. Over five hours of engaging hands-on learning, students discovered how to transform their imagination into stories using AI tools like Google Gemini, ChatGPT and Leonardo.AI.
From the very first session, the enthusiasm was clear. These secondary school learners came ready to create, and our instructor taught them prompts, techniques, and frameworks that helped turn rough ideas into vivid characters, structured plots, and illustrated scenes.

Each session focused on a different layer of storytelling
Session 1 introduced the concepts of Character-driven vs. Plot-driven stories and why strong characters matter.
Session 2 unpacked the Three-Act Structure and how to frame a story with purpose, with ChatGPT acting as writing coach, helping students brainstorm ideas, refine their dialogue, and structure their stories step by step.
Session 3 focused on Genres—including comedy, adventure, legend, and thriller and others.
Session 4 brought visual storytelling to the table with Leonardo.AI, where students turned their ideas into storybook covers.
Session 5 ended with students sharing their creations, reflecting on what they learned, and discussing the responsible use of AI.

Summary
Beyond learning how to “talk to AI,” these students learned how to think with AI, using Prompt Engineering Frameworks. Whether brainstorming ideas, improving dialogue, or generating a compelling plot twist, they came away with a new kind of digital fluency.
We’re proud to have partnered with Ngee Ann Secondary School for this program and even prouder of what the students created. Their work showed us that when AI meets imagination, the future of storytelling is bright.
If your school is exploring how to introduce creativity, digital literacy, and AI into the classroom, we’d love to bring the AI Storybuilder Program to your students next.
