MTChat: Mind Theory's AI Chatbot, Built and Hosted in Singapore

MTChat is Mind Theory’s own AI chatbot. It was built for one job: helping young people learn useful things, from science and history to writing, coding and study skills, with answers pitched at the right level and grounded in real knowledge rather than trends.

It runs on our own AI servers in Singapore using open models such as Gemma 4, Qwen, Qwen3.8-Flash-Next and Mistral, so conversations stay in Singapore and never pass through an overseas AI provider.

Hundreds of Mind Theory students already use MTChat, including students who attended our holiday camps and the school workshops we run with primary and secondary schools across Singapore.

Mind Theory is Singapore’s pioneering AI and creative-tech education provider, established March 2023, with hundreds of students across primary, secondary, and adult programmes. Read about Us.

Why We Built Our Own AI Chatbot

Most AI chatbots are built for adults at work. They answer anything, in any tone, and they are shaped by whatever their makers want to sell next. For a classroom of 12 year olds, that is the wrong starting point.

MTChat starts from the opposite brief. It is set up to teach: to explain a topic step by step, to suggest a sensible next question, and to keep the conversation on learning. Our instructors use it in class, and students keep using it at home after the course ends.

The chatbot in the bottom right corner of this page is also powered by MTChat, connected to our knowledge base, so it can answer questions about our courses, holiday camps and school programmes.

Your Data Stays in Singapore

Every MTChat conversation is processed on AI servers that we own and run in Singapore. Prompts, uploaded documents and generated images are stored on the same servers, and nothing is sent to an overseas AI company to be processed or used for training.

For parents, that means a clear answer to the question of where a child’s conversations go. For schools and companies, it means a Singapore AI chatbot that keeps student and business data under local control.

Open AI Models: Gemma 4, Qwen, Qwen3.8-Flash-Next and Mistral

MTChat runs open models, the AI equivalent of open-source software. We use Google‘s Gemma 4, Alibaba’s Qwen and its newer Qwen3.8-Flash-Next, plus Mistral, and choose the right one for each task: a fast model for quick questions, a stronger one for writing and reasoning, and models that can read images.

Because the models run on our own hardware, there is no per-message fee to an outside provider, and we can add newer open models as they are released.

Safe for Teenagers

Safety is built into MTChat’s servers, not left to the user. MTChat has a banned keyword list that refuses image requests involving nudity, sexual content or graphic violence, whoever writes the prompt. Requests are checked after any rewording, so a blocked request cannot be slipped through by asking the AI to rephrase it.

Accounts can require approval by an administrator before they are activated.

What MTChat Can Do

MTChat is a full AI workspace, not a single chat box. These are the features students and teams use most.

Image generation

Describe a picture in a sentence and MTChat creates it inside the chat, in styles from realistic to anime. Students use it to illustrate stories and presentations, with the banned keyword list applied to every request.

Document editing

Upload a Word or Excel file and ask for changes in plain English, such as fixing grammar, restructuring a report or updating a table. Every edit is saved as a new version, so the original file is never overwritten.

Coding

Inside MTChat, the MTCode model turns a plain English description into a working web page, with the files, a live preview and a download right next to the chat. It works like our MTCode command-line tool, with a web interface instead of a terminal. Students use Plan to discuss and plan the project with the AI model, then switch to Build when they are ready for it to start coding, so they learn how a project comes together step by step.

Web search

For questions about current events, prices or anything that changes, MTChat can search the live web and answer from up-to-date sources instead of relying on what the model learned up to its training cut-off date.

Chat with your documents

Students can upload notes, worksheets or reading material and ask questions about them. MTChat answers from the document itself, which makes it useful for revision and research.

Multi-model mode

Ask one question and get answers from two AI models side by side. It is a simple way to compare quality, check facts and show students that different AI models can reach different answers.

Vision

MTChat can read images as well as text. Upload a photo of a diagram, a worksheet or a chart and ask it to explain what it shows.

Notes sidebar

A notes panel on the right of the screen lets you jot down the parts of each AI reply you want to keep, so you can compile research, revision points or a first draft in one place as you chat. Notes save automatically as you type.

Who Uses MTChat

Students. Mind Theory students use MTChat during our camps and school workshops for storytelling, research, coding and revision, and keep their accounts afterwards.

Companies. We offer a corporate version of MTChat, built for enterprise use. Corporate teams use it as a private AI assistant. They ingest their own company documents so MTChat can answer from their knowledge, and use it for writing, summarising and analysing reports, with unlimited usage and every conversation kept private on Singapore servers. We also run staff training so teams learn how to use it well from day one.

Content creators. Writers and marketers use MTChat for blog writing, SEO research, outlines and editing, switching between models to find the best draft.

Getting Access to MTChat

MTChat is free for anyone to try, with a daily chat limit to prevent abuse. Full features, such as image generation, coding and document editing, are available to signed-in users. Students on our courses, holiday camps and school programmes are set up with accounts in class.
