Mind Theory runs retro LAN gaming team building events in Singapore, built around the classics many colleagues grew up with. Teams face off over a local network on Quake, StarCraft 2, Warcraft and Diablo in a structured tournament. It is a relaxed, fun way for a team to spend a few hours together.
How the event works
We structure sessions as co-ops, free for all or team deathmatches. A warm-up round lets everyone get used to the controls, then teams play through free for all, followed by team deathmatches. Nobody sits out: between matches, players cheer, heckle and trade tips from the side.
Sessions run from a 2hr express tournament to a half day. Tell us your group size and we will shape the session around your team.
The retro LAN gaming arena
The arena is built on Quake 1, 2 and 3, Counterstrike, Warcraft, StarCraft II, and Diablo II, covering the genres that ruled Singapore’s LAN shops during the 1990s. First person shooters for the quick reflex crowd, real time strategy for the planners, and co-op dungeon runs for everyone else. Matches run over a local network in team modes, so newcomers learn the ropes in minutes while veterans rediscover old reflexes.
For teams in their 30s and 40s the nostalgia is instant. Directors who have not touched the WASD keys since their LAN shop days end up trading rockets with the interns. Few activities flatten a company hierarchy faster than a good old LAN game.

Why it works for team bonding
Retro gaming is inclusive by design. There is no fitness requirement, no weather risk and no forced icebreakers. Quieter team members who stay in the background at dinner events often surprise everyone once a leaderboard is involved, and spectating is half the fun.
Scoring is built around teams rather than individuals, so colleagues mix, cheer and strategise together. You leave with a set of office champions and a camera roll full of colleagues at their most animated.
Want to add some speed to the day? Our sim racing team building events run on their own or alongside the LAN arena.
